Streamline Your Screen: How to Unsubscribe from Airtel Channels Easily
Are you tired of paying for television channels that nobody in your house watches? With the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) framework, you have absolute control over your DTH bill. If you want to cut down on monthly costs and prune your channel list, dropping unwanted subscriptions on your Airtel Digital TV is straightforward.
Whether you prefer a smartphone app, text messaging, or managing things directly through your TV screen, here is a complete, step-by-step guide on how to unsubscribe from Airtel channels.
Method 1: Using the Airtel Thanks App (Easiest & Fastest)
If you have a smartphone, using the official app is the most visual and transparent way to view your active packs and drop what you don’t need.
- Open the App: Launch the Airtel Thanks app on your Android or iOS device. Make sure you are logged in using your registered mobile number.
- Navigate to DTH: Go to the home screen, tap on the DTH section or look under your “Manage” or “Services” tab.
- View Current Plan: Select your DTH account/connection to view your active base pack, add-on bouquets, and a-la-carte channels.
- Edit/Modify Channels: Look for options like “Manage DTH”, “Modify Pack”, or “Edit Current Plan”.
- Unsubscribe: Locate the specific channel or broadcaster pack you want to get rid of and deselect it.
- Confirm Changes: Review your updated monthly summary (which will reflect the reduced price) and hit Confirm / Proceed. The channel will typically be removed within a few minutes.
Method 2: Via SMS (Quick & No Internet Required)
Don’t have an active internet connection on your phone? You can drop channels instantly via a simple text message.
- Open your phone’s messaging app.
- Compose a new message in the following format:
REM
(For example, if you want to remove channel number 502, type:REM 502). - Send this text to 54325 from your Registered Mobile Number (RMN).
- You will receive an incoming confirmation SMS shortly, and the channel will be deactivated from your box.
Note: If you need to send the message from a non-registered mobile number, you may need to append your Airtel DTH Customer ID to the text format.
Method 3: Directly Through Your TV Screen
You can manage your entire subscription lineup using your remote control while sitting on your couch.
- Turn on your TV and your Airtel DTH Set-Top Box.
- Tune in to Channel No. 998. This is Airtel’s dedicated self-care and account management channel.
- Follow the on-screen interactive instructions displayed on the portal.
- Navigate to the channel selection or modification menu using your remote’s directional arrows.
- Select the channels or packs you wish to drop.
- Once finalized, a Confirmation Code will appear on your screen. Send that code via SMS to 54325 from your registered mobile number to successfully execute the change.
Method 4: Through the Official Airtel Website
If you prefer handling administrative tasks on a laptop or computer desktop:
- Visit the official Airtel website and head to the Digital TV / DTH section.
- Log in to your account using your Registered Mobile Number or your specific 10-digit DTH Customer ID.
- Navigate to My Account > Connections > Manage TV Channels.
- Select Edit Current Plan and uncheck the channels or bouquets you no longer wish to pay for.
- Submit and confirm the changes.
Pro-Tips to Keep in Mind
- Keep the Box Powered On: If you are using SMS or TV-driven methods, keep your set-top box plugged in and turned on so that the update signals transmit smoothly.
- Pro-rata Adjustments: When you drop an a-la-carte channel or broadcaster pack mid-month, Airtel generally adjusts the remaining balance proportionately into your account balance.
- Customer Support: If you run into technical glitches or error codes while altering your pack, you can always call Airtel DTH customer care at 121 (from an Airtel number) or 98100-12345 (from any other number) for assistance.
